Choy Sum Seeds

Generally divided into green and purple stemmed types and by day length to maturity. The day length after which some varieties are named does not always apply under UK growing conditions.

Choy Sum is generall harvested at a flowering shoot stage, the flowering shoots can be eaten, they are tender and sweet. The main stem is succulent and is considered to be the best flavoured part of the plant. Choy Sum is ideal in stir fry or can be used raw in salads.

A dark green stem variety, plants have a large frame with good side shoot production. The main stem is very succulent. Suited to the UK late summer and autumn period. Matures to bud stage in 50-55 days.

Hon Tsai-Tai Purple

An early Choy Sum. It has purple flower stalks and petioles with green leaves and yellow buds. Taken as young salad leaves or mature as edible inflorescences, they have a pleasant mild mustard taste. The purple colour intensifies in autumn.

Extremely high quality, early maturing, green stemmed hybrid choy sum. Vigorous and very uniform, the plants mature in approx 40-45 days. Adaptable variety for all year round production.

A green stem type with thick long leaves and slender petioles. Slightly later than Hong Kong.
