Sweetcorn Seeds

In the 1940's Tozer Seeds first breeder Dr Dermot Dawson bred and promoted the first hybrid sweetcorn variety suited to the UK climate. Although we no longer actively breed sweetcorn we extensively trial and select the best varieties from the USA. We are currently conducting a major sweetcorn development programme in the UK.

Ornamental Corn

Ornamental or Indian Corn come in a huge range of sizes and colours, however most require too long a season to mature in the UK. Fiesta and Strawberry are two which are relatively fast. Ornamental corns are not sweet ,but are edible like maize.

Sweetcorn Extra Tender

These varieties represent the very latest in sweetcorn breeding. The grains have a tender pericarp and a very sweet taste. They can be eaten raw like an apple as well as cooked.

Sweetcorn Super Sweet

Super Sweet varieties have a higher level of sugar when compared to the normal sugar varieties. They take longer to convert this extra sugar into starch which results in the cobs having a sweeter flavour and a longer shelf life.
